Having Our Say's advocacy priorities fall under five key policy areas:

Expand access to care for all Californians regardless of immigration status by passing Health4All.
Increase cultural competence and access to quality care through increased funding for community-based organizations, greater quality standards, and reliable access to in-language services and trained interpreters.
Secure funding for community-based organizations to conduct outreach, enrollment, and care coordination to ensure communities of color can access and utilize health care.
Support the promotion of public health and prevention including issues related to housing affordability, transportation access, environmental justice, and additional social determinants of health.
Ensure robust participation in the 2020 Census by supporting funds, resources, and training for local advocacy and community education.

HOS members continue to educate policymakers, our communities and the media about the impact of health policies on communities of color.

  • We work collaboratively to develop an inclusive health equity agenda that reflects the needs of all our communities.
  • We advocate for state-level systems and policy change in Sacramento and in our communities.
  • We build the capacity of new voices to join the fight through training and leadership development.
